Sadly 18 year-old Gopah, our much-loved female lion, has died from an age-related illness.

Gopah, named after the lioness in "Born Free", was one of five lions that lived in Werribee Open Range Zoo's Lions On The Edge exhibit. Born at Melbourne Zoo on 6th September 1990, Gopah, along with sister Jespah and niece Jarrah, moved to Werribee Open Range Zoo in 2004.

She was always a very confident lioness who excelled in her training and conditioning program and was well respected amongst the pride without showing forceful aggression.

She will be sadly missed.
