Zoos Victoria's Purpose: To lead, inspire and empower everyone to connect with wildlife, build knowledge, develop skills and take informed action to conserve the natural world.

Under the leadership of the Environmental Sustainability Team, Zoos Victoria aims to:

• Achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2012.
• Develop a Green Procurement Program.
• Implement a Resource Efficiency program, which will deliver more with fewer resources.
• Commit to Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) principles in the development of buildings, enclosures and infrastructure.
• Commit to a waste minimisation program.
• Be an active participant to the Ecotourism Australia program.
• Celebrate and be recognised for its Environmental Sustainability achievements.
• Support staff at work and at home in Environmental Sustainability training and development.
• Implement a robust Environmental Management System.
