Stage 1 - Werribee Open Range Zoo

Discovery Session
The 50 minute learning experience with the Education Officer occurs within the Volcanic Plains grassland exhibit.

Students will meet a threatened species from the region and find out about the Zoo's role in its recovery program. We will then explore the grassland, observing interactions within the ecosystem, determining threats and action we can take for its conservation.

You can download the student activity trail here (pdf)

Safari Tour
A 50 minute safari tour themed "Grasslands of the World".

Students will meet and examine the relationships between a range of species largely from the African Savanna. Sadly, many of these species are threatened. The reasons why will be explored, as well as the Zoo's role in their conservation.

Stage 2 - Iramoo Sustainable Community Centre, Victoria University, St Alban's Campus.

Grassland monitoring and restoration activities
The 90 minute activity at Iramoo will build on the students knowledge about the processes threatening native grasslands, and develop skills for plant identification.

Students will get their hands dirty restoring their own patch of native grassland by removing weeds and sowing seeds of indigenous flora.
